i think its never going to be completely withoug tube amps. Problem with old Cars is, they can be uncomfortable, unsafe, swallow a lot of fuel, are super expensive to repair and so on. But tube Amps? only downside I see is how heavy they can be. but now with 20 Watt amps and 2x12 cabinets that's not so much an issue anymore. and those still bang your intestines just like their big brothers.

Ric made the Bantar for a guy named Eddie Peabody. They also made a "Banjoline" for him that was a guitar shape. leo Fender made him a Banjo Mustang. Eddie was around from the 30's and was an electric guitar pioneer.

The FDC is a variation of Gibson "Theodore" (tulip) guitar with headstock variation of a banjo from a brand I can't remember the name of at the moment. They're definitely in danger of getting a cease & desist request from Gibson. But then who isn't?

Rickenbacker made the banjo to capitalize on bluegrass banjo player Doug Dillard's brief association with the Byrds when the band began its country rock period. I remember Dillard years later in an interview saying that one reason for the instrument's failure was that it didn't sound like a banjo. That's because it wasn't. It was a guitar, albeit one with an odd string configuration.
